Subject: Traits Update: Existing Trait Changes
---
Hello my friends!
Many of the existing traits are due for some sprucing up. Much has changed in
the game since I last gave them some attention, and I want to give some of the
lower-performing traits a boost to help encourage a greater variety of viable
character builds. I have a list of traits that I plan to change, and these are
the ones I have finished so far. Most of the changes will be buffs, but expect
a nerf or too as well as I need the design space to offer some exciting
additional options that I'll announce along with the new traits.
Traits updated so far:
Absent Minded
Originally, this trait had an exception for cesti so that you wouldn't
unknowingly drop them. Now, that exception applies to all weapons.
New description:
Character periodically drops held items. Character will not drop wielded
weapons or shields if they have made an attack in the last 5 minutes. Value: -3
All Thumbs
An underutilized trait, I reduced the amount which it increased fumbles, had
it apply the PvP penalty to all enemies, and increased it's value back to 2.
New description:
Increased frequency of fumbling. Recovery is no longer perfectible against
NPCs. Value: 2
Blade Mastery
This trait used to only give a bonus to slashing attacks with knives or
gladius, which is way too narrow. I have expanded it to apply to a wider
variety of weapons and attacks.
New description:
Character receives a bonus to scoring critical hits with non-bludgeoning,
non-missile attacks with any weapon. Value: 2
Hand of Fate
As some of you have seen already, I added an extra ability to this neutral
trait to make it more competitive with the better neutrals.
New description:
Both you and your opponents have an additional chance to score critical hits.
When rolling 5 or less on an attack, character has a rank-based chance to
reroll that attack.
Mobile Skirmisher
Few characters were able to utilize this trait due to it's harsh weigh
requirement, so I have increased it.
New description:
Character receives a scaling bonus to dodging, up to +20, inversely
proportional to the amount of weight carried. Maximum benefit is reached at 20
or less pounds carried.
Mule's Back
This has always been a great trait for hauling loot, but I found that it did
not apply its bonus to the character's ability to pull or drag things. This
has been rectified.
New description:
Strength is increased by +66% when calculating the load a character can carry.
Increases weight that character can pull or drag. Does not affect encumbrance
penalties. Value: 2
Old Dog
I made this trait long before the new SP system was put in place, and in
certain circumstances, the "penalty" SP rate was actually more than what the
character would be getting without the trait. This is now fixed.
